Principal’s Message 2014-2015 (50th Anniversary)

If I were to examine Mona Preparatory School’s Admission Records from 1964 to present, I would be able to statistically represent the data with regard to students who attended the institution. What would perhaps be very difficult is the ability to ascertain information about the many lives that have been impacted by the institution.

I am truly proud to share in the legacy of such a great educational giant and as I, the current Principal of the institution reflect, I think of those past Board Members, Principals, Teachers and Ancillary Staff who served the institution during the formative years.  They are the flag bearers who are largely responsible for the unique spirit that identifies Mona among the preparatory Schools in Jamaica. They have truly served with the level of tenacity, determination, and passion which were necessary ingredients to ignite the fire that has caused the institution to blaze educationally, spiritually and socially.

Mona Preparatory School is the birthplace of many dreams and aspirations. The school is synonymous with academic excellence sporting prowess and an insatiable thirst for the arts. This combination is responsible for the reason it is rare for one to meet a Mona student who is not confident and well-rounded. The School’s Motto “I serve” is the fuel which sparks this desire for the Mona student to stand out.

As we contemplate the journey ahead, we give thanks as we celebrate this key milestone of fifty years with a theme that is pertinent, poignant and potent: “Recall, Reclaim, Rejoice.”  This I hope will inspire the Mona Community to be steadfast in our bid to offer a product that is characterized by value-based education. This is our Mona, Your Mona, My Mona. May God richly bless our School.
